The wire block, also known as a snatch block, with its roller allows for winching at an angle, enabling you to stay in the vehicle while winching.

The wire has a sliding loop, and when it reaches the roller, the sliding loop releases and frees the wire. This way, the logging can automatically continue straight ahead without you having to get out and reconnect.
